At the start of 2023, we celebrated our first full year in business. We are really proud of all we have achieved in the last year and hope to continue to develop our business as we expand our training offerings, and support healthcare teams with bespoke consultancy services and Mental Capacity Assessments for complex cases.
Of course, there may well be a big change coming in the field of Mental Capacity in 2023: the launch of the new Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS). When it launches, LPS will replace the existing DoLS process that many readers will be familiar with.
Following several delays, plus a consultation held last year, we are still waiting for confirmation on when the LPS process will come into force. We expect government to provide some update in the coming months.
LPS will be a major change for many care teams as it expands the scope of the current DoLS remit to also include supported living, shared lives and education facilities for those aged 16 and above.
