Mental Capacity Training

We offer bespoke Mental Capacity training services designed to support capacity and bring your assessments up to ‘gold standard’. These sessions can be held either at your location, or delivered online. If you have something specific you are looking for, do please get in touch. We are more than happy to adapt training to your requirements, and can tailor our training materials to your own team and context.

Training sessions

Sessions for a maximum of 30 people, held at your location or online, typically lasting between 4 to 5 hours depending on the size of the group and engagement in the activities. These can be tailored to your specific needs and can include introductory training, refresher training, or bespoke courses.

A ‘typical’ training session on Mental Capacity will cover topics including:

  • The Mental Capacity Act
  • What is consent and how do we relate ‘capacity’ to this?
  • Mental Capacity Assessments
  • How to assess mental capacity
  • Best interest decisions
  • Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) – linking to Liberty Protection Safeguards
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney and Deputyship
  • Court of Protection

Within our provisions, we include workshops to help attendees develop skills of identifying the relevant information and what questions to ask, as well as best practice in documentation. We have have really positive feedback on this Unique Selling Point and provision, aiding application of the Act in practice, building confidence and key competencies.

Pricing

  • £600 in-person (plus travel costs) including printed resources
  • £400 online including resources sent via email – we politely ask that these are not recorded.
